ATLANTA – Atlanta Falcons free safety Thomas DeCoud spoke after the team’s 23-20 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
Included in this video:
- The story about Asante Samuel’s fourth-quarter interception from DeCoud’s point of view
- How the secondary will spend the bye week
- Their belief during the game that the Falcons would not lose
- What teams are doing to step up against the Falcons
One of the statements that struck me was when we were speaking about opposing teams giving the Falcons their best shot. Atlanta has had to battle over the last three weeks against teams with a combined record of 5-11. And it took an overtime field goal, a last-second field goal, and three fourth-quarter or later, come-from-behind victories to beat Carolina, Washington and Oakland.
“I haven’t seen too many copycat plays so far this season,” said DeCoud.
That tells me that opposing teams haven’t figured out a glaring weakness that they can exploit. It sounds like the Falcons will spend the bye week making sure that remains the case.
