John Abraham Admits to Playing Hurt

by Knox Bardeen on December 16, 2011

ATLANTA — Atlanta Falcons defensive end John Abraham played one of the best games of his season Thursday, possibly of his career. In registering three-and-a-half sacks he matched the second highest single-game sack total of his career, a half sack shy of his career best.

Abraham has taken some heat this year for his lack of sacks. Prior to Thursday’s game Abraham had five; six fewer than at this point last season.

After the game, Abraham admitted that he hurt himself in Week 2 during the Philadelphia game, and had been playing hurt all season.

“Now I’m done with treatment, I’m feeling good, I’m feeling 100 percent and able to practice like I want to and play like I want to,” said Abraham who told reporters he began feeling 100 percent healthy after the Houston game. “I’m not feeling scared out there to do something else to it because it feels 100 percent.

“The last couple of weeks I’ve been myself.”
