FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — With the addition of Asante Samuel to the Atlanta Falcons secondary, Dunta Robinson has been tagged to move inside to the slot position. Robinson said he was very happy with the move to the inside as it brought him back to a comfort level he had while playing for the Houston Texans.
“It’s what I did pretty much for six years in Houston and it’s something I’m very used to,” said Robinson. “It’s going to give us a chance to get all three of our corners on the field at the same time.”
The Falcons played more nickel than base defense in each of the last two seasons, and new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan will likely ramp up the five-DB package even more. There will be plenty of time where Robinson, Samuel and Brent Grimes are on the field at the same time.
