Atlanta Falcons rookie fullback Bradie Ewing will miss the entire 2012 season after tearing his Anterior Cruciate Ligament, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Ewing was injured on a punt during the first quarter of the Falcons’ first preseason game, Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens.
“Unfortunately, we have to announce that Bradie Ewing will miss the entire season after sustaining a knee injury in last night’s contest,” Smith said.
“As a result, we will be placing him on injured reserve tomorrow. Bradie is a talented player and I know he and our training staff will do everything they can to ensure a full recovery.”
Ewing, was drafted in the fifth round and was expected to battle with Mike Cox for the starting fullback position. The arrival of Ewing gave the Falcons enough confidence to let former fullback Ovie Mughelli walk in free agency.
It will now be up to Cox and rookie Lee Meisner to fill the void left by the departure of Mughelli and the injury of Ewing.
